Advise I would give you as a plastic surgeon of 7+ years admin, December 8, 2025 #1 That Instagram model’s body you saved? Her photos are edited, and her surgeon probably used filters too. Show me results you love, but understand that real bodies have texture, natural asymmetry, and individual healing patterns. #2 If you can’t commit to 6 weeks of proper recovery, postpone your surgery. Rushing back to the gym, lifting your kids at week 3, or “just sitting for a minute” after BBL will compromise your results and waste your investment. #3 Bargain shopping for body contouring is how you end up needing revision surgery. If the price seems too good to be true, there’s a reason. Cheaper often means less experience or lower safety standards. #4 Your weight needs to be stable for at least 6 months before surgery. Planning to “lose 20 pounds after my tummy tuck” means you’re doing this backwards. Reach your goal first, maintain it, then invest in surgery. #5 Surgery enhances your body, not your life circumstances. If you think a BBL will fix your confidence issues or a mommy makeover will save your relationship, we need to address expectations first. #6 Your medical history isn’t just a formality. That “occasional vaping,” the supplements you take, medications you’re on – all of it affects your safety and healing. #7 Recovery protocols exist for a reason. Feeling good at week 2 doesn’t mean you’re healed internally. Patients who skip post-op instructions because they “feel fine” are the ones dealing with complications and suboptimal results months later. #8 Board certification is non-negotiable. Verify your surgeon is ABPS certified before you book. “Cosmetic surgeon” is not the same credential. If your plastic surgeon doesn’t discuss these realities during consultation, that’s your sign to keep looking.
