It’s done to increase the number of surgeries conducted, maximising profits. One victim of the practice is Kwon Dae-hee, who died of severe bleeding after undergoing jawline surgery in 2016. CCTV footage showed the 26-year-old was left unattended during surgery. The victim’s family was reportedly compensated 430 million won (US$386,900) in 2019, while the surgeons involved face manslaughter charges.
